I especially appreciate Cowboys & Aliens for many well-placed shots of Daniel Craig's very attractive silhouette. Lovely back, I see exactly why they featured it in all the posters. Nice shoulders on that dude.

It is... an interesting experience. Exciting. But it does not hold up to any scrutiny AT ALL. Do not scrutinize. You will hurt yourself. I am not kidding.

And it dabbles in some

1) rather

2) sad

3) tropes.

Also the aliens do not make a lick of sense. Not even as the allegory they were so blatantly trying for. I like the design though.

1) What was that even FOR?

'V jvyy abg yrg guvf juvgr zna yrnq zl crbcyr vagb onggyr.'

This proved not to be the case, and she was actually quite interesting overall. She might have fulfilled another trope, but that's a much less annoying one.

I WAS afraid, and perhaps I should still be even post viewing, during the scene where they guebj ure nccnerag pbecfr ba gur sver, gung guvf jnf tbvat gb or n abg ng nyy gbathr va purrx "bu gubfr fnintr Vaqvnaf nggnpxva' gur juvgrsbyx" ohfvarff, ohg jnf pbashfrq orpnhfr juvyr nyy gur bgure punenpgref jrer jngpuvat guvf va ubeebe, gur jubyr fprar frrzrq gb or fb boivbhfyl n shareny evgr gung V qvqa'g dhvgr xabj jurer gb tb va zl zvaq.

I loved the outcome of that scene, though. I will not put it down to deus ex machina. Cubravk!

Other loves:

"We were flying."
"Yeah."
"I don't wanna do that again."

Is it a spoiler to say the little Airbender is in it? I don't think it's spoilery to say that the little Airbender is in it. I think I mananged not to hold it against him. ;-)

It is SERIOUSLY not worth an instant of jealousy. In fact I suspect I'm only being this nice because I went as a plus-one on my friend's press pass and didn't blow 14 bucks on it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Daniel Craig's... silhouette. *cough* And no, I can't convince C. to wear chaps for me. DAMMIT!

The tropes were saddening. I thought they did a good job of working in some of the cliches, tho. I mean, it's essentially a cowboy movie so to make it feel like a cowboy movie you have to have certain things happen and certain characters show up so I was prepared for cliches.

SO so disappointed in the ladies in the show. There were, what, three women with any relevance and they were pretty much interchangeable except for Wilde's character twist. But even so, three lady victims. Barf. Even the little boy was more kick ass and less of a victim than three fully-grown women.

I also still don't think Noah Ringer can act. Staring slack-jawed isn't acting.

I liked the cowboy parts. I liked the overall atmosphere, really -- it just didn't bear thinking about very closely at all. "Gurl jnag tbyq orpnhfr vgf cerggl! Abg orpnhfr vg cbjref gurve fuvcf be nalguvat, abg orpnhfr gurer'f nal rivqrapr be gurve hfvat vg nyy nyy va nal jnl, ab, gurfr guvatf gung qb abg rira jrne pybguvat be nalguvat qrpbengvir whfg jnag tbyq orpnhfr vg pyrireyl cnenyyryf gur 49ref.")

Oh, I'm mean.

(C. could pull off the chaps look. Perhaps if you obtain a pair for him, he will feel obligated?)

Tell me you weren't waiting for Ringer to do a back flip. That's the ONLY thing that kept me feeling invested toward him -- well, that and his age -- that anticipation, and NOTHING. :P

(I also hoped the spooky touch-face scene would turn out to be something more interesting and expectation-flippy.)
